The key to success in business
There are many different levels of success in business and all of them are connected to the owner’s perspective of what success is. The overwhelming question is, “How do you continue to have the same level of that success if you are not working in the business every day?”
The reason that you start you own business is to have freedom of time in order to enjoy your life. Unfortunately, what happens most often is that you trade the job working for someone else to working for yourself working more hours and become a slave to your business instead of your boss. Over time you have success and all is well except that you cannot leave your business without suffering the consequences of the time off. Have you ever felt that way? You are not alone. Many business people have felt the same way. I can relate to that because I was there once too.
There is a way to have success and achieve your goal of having more time to enjoy your life. Would you like to know what that is? Great! It is called unconditional love! Now you think I am crazy, right? Just give me an opportunity to explain it.
Unconditional love is a product of bonding and caring that is generated from building a culture inside your business. This culture is the personality of the business. Culture creates support within the business that automatically ties the different areas of your business together and creates a bridge that can overcome all obstacles.
There are two elements to creating this kind of culture.
It starts with you. The leader. The experiences from in my past taught me that to lead you needed to be demanding, overbearing, pushy, and demeaning. This is what we call managing from fear. This management style will not work for very long and definitely will not create a culture within your business that will cultivate lasting, successful results. A true leader is encouraging, firm but fair, is an example to others, inspires their team and rolls up their sleeves, when needed, without using it as leverage but as a tool to show others that you are a real person who is in the trenches with them not barking orders from the ground above them.
Culture is built from compassionate coaching. As adults, we learn most of what we know from experiences we have with others. If you want your business to have a culture (personality) that creates the success that you have had in your business, you must allow your employees to learn from you and experience what made you successful so that they can learn and integrate that into their positions, duplicating it.
Good coaches are great listeners. They are encouragers, they a show their employees that they are important and that they make a difference.A study with functional MRIs was done and the study concluded that this type of coaching increased performance, while coaching that focuses on the weaknesses decreases performance.
If you want to build a business that will allow you to live your life to the fullest, create a culture that produces unconditional love, each one helping the other without hesitation or expectancy. This will allow you to take a vacation and come back to a business that is producing according to plan.
