Who is your mentor
When you were a child, there was someone that you admired. It could have been a parent or relative, maybe a teacher or perhaps even a super hero. This person is who you looked to for advice and as an example of how you should live. These people are called mentors.
Mentors are people who provide you a reference of what can be done and they can give you with the information to do it. A mentor can give you experienced, knowledgeable advice that you need to grow in the areas that you are to achieve more.
You may already have the mentors that you need in your life, but if you don’t, how do you determine if someone is the right fit to be your mentor?
First, this person should have already achieved success in the area that you are trying to succeed. For example, if you are trying to lose weight and eat healthy, your mentor should be someone who has successfully learned to eat healthy and lose weight. That person should be living this example as a daily part of their lives. If you want to build a successful business, you should define what that success looks like and then find someone who has already done it to mentor you.
You should also have more than one mentor. A person who has achieved success in one area may not have achieved that success in another area. I am not saying that they cannot because there are people who have success in many areas of their life. If you find a person like that and they fit the successes that you want to have in your own life, then you have a found a source of great value. Finding the right mentor is important. They are your inspiration when times get hard. They have information on how to get where you want to go that is relevant. They are experienced in the path that you want to take, they know where the road traps are and what bumps you will encounter along the way.
I stress the importance of finding someone with the success in that area you are reaching for and propose this question…if you needed a special procedure done inside your brain, would you allow a general practitioner to do the surgery? Of course not! So why would you look for solutions in someone who did not have successful experience in that area?
The next step, once you have identified the person that you want to mentor you, is to ask them. People love to help other people. If you will approach this person and explain to them that you admire them for what they have accomplished and ask for their help and advice, they would be happy to do it.
Mentors are your source of valuable information and experience. They will help you to get where you want to go faster, avoiding the typical problems that will occur on the journey.
I encourage you to find your mentor today. Increase your potential for success.
Then be a mentor for someone else.
