Finding your Purpose Part 5-Road to Victory
Sometimes our road to victory seems like a winding road that leads to nowhere. It can be very disillusioning, appearing to lead to where you want to go but never getting there. It may appear like a mirage in the desert, lush and beautiful, when in fact, it is a dusty, dry desert that leaves you longing. The road that you travel on each day is full of options that can get you off track if you are not focused on where you want to go. The road to victory is one that is well planned and is executed according to those plans.
You have dreams that you want to achieve. These dreams can become your reality if you will follow the simple steps of achieving what you want in life. Over the past 4 weeks we have explored how to get to the point of discovering what your dreams really are. Now it is time to plan the road map to achieving those dreams.
Start with the following;
Begin to write down all of the things that you are going to need. At least, the things you know you will need. There are going to be many that you will discover along the way but you must start with what you know right now.
Determine what obstacles you will encounter. Again, you will not know all of them but you will be able to determine a few. The more you can see in advance the faster you can achieve your goals.
Who do you need to help you get there? This could be a relative, a mentor, a banker, a coach, etc. Write their names in your plan along with the need that they will be able to fulfill.
Start writing down the steps that you will need to take in order to achieve your dreams. You will not know every step that you must take but you will know many. Write each one down and do not worry about the order that you put them in. Once you get the steps on paper you will be able to see where you need to start.
This step is probably the most difficult. You have spent approximately ten hours in the preparation of the plan to achieve your goals. These ten hours may seem like a lifetime but it will be the best investment toward achieving your dreams. It will take years off of the realization of your dream. This step is to simply START.
So many times, people never realize their dreams because they never take the time to put everything in a single plan that they can review each day and if they do take this time, fear takes over and gives you a hundred reason why you will fail.
Do not have fear because it only takes one good reason for you to succeed. That reason is your “why”. This is the unequivocal reason why you want to achieve this dream. It is the one thing that will keep you awake at night, gets you up early in the morning and drives you throughout the day.
