Today you have at least one expectation in your life. Will you create a reality from that expectation? If you answered that question with a “Yes”, congratulations! If you answered, “not sure” or “no”, is there a valid reason why? The answer to that may not be what just ran through your mind, however, the answer is yes. There is absolutely a reason why. It is your mind, nothing more. Anything else is a product of a creation of your mind. That is not to say that it cannot be a reality but it is not the reason.
If you really want to turn your expectations into a creation you must take a look at what you focus on. Your mind is full of many things. Last nights’ dinner, the movie you watched, what your coworker said about another one, the discussion you had with your spouse, the music that plays on the radio station that you listen to and/or the book you read. Your outcome is directly related to your input. You need to control your thoughts by controlling what goes into your mind. By focusing on the list above and altering the content of those things to provide you with the information and motivation you can stay focused on the creation of the expectations that you have. When your mind is in focus it will create the output needed to achieve your expectations.
When I was in my early twenties, I was living without direction in my life. I was associating with people who were mixed up in drugs, we listened to music that talked about drugs, stealing, cheating, killing and the likes. Every conversation was a topic to explore and expound upon, thus was the output in my life. It was full of uncertainty, negativity, immorality. Due to the things that I was seeing and hearing, my mind was creating for itself a manner in which it would operate, limited by the elements that were put into it. I was confused, unhappy, unstable. Even though I was working and achieving the basic necessities for myself and my family, I could not think about the future in a positive way and I was settling for where I was which was barely getting by, a negative attitude, bouts of depression.
When I changed my surroundings and the things that was seeing and hearing to wholesome, positive, encouraging things, I saw everything differently. I was able to get a better job, grow mentally, becoming happier with myself, making more money than I ever made, learning how to do my job better and eventually, starting my own business that grew to be successful.
Whatever you put in front of your eyes and ears is what you will be thinking about and is what will generate the output in your life. If you have any doubts that you may not achieve the expectations that you have, you should take a look at what you are regularly thinking about. If you will change what you are putting into your mind, you will change what will come out of it.
Zig Ziglar said, “You are who you are and what you are by what has gone into your mind. You can change who you are and what you are by changing what goes into you mind.”
